Just watched this really touching korean documentary at KBS.
(Don't know why.. but my cable tv can access korean channels)
An old lady who's turning 70 is a first grade student in an elementary school on an island of Korea. She's previously illiterate cos she never attended school during her younger days when she's to take care of her 8 younger siblings.
One thing that really touches me is that she does this for the sake of her daughter who's been deaf since young. This poses a great communication barrier cos this mother is unable to understand her daughter's sign language.
When she finally knows how to communicate with her daughter through writing the first time, she felt really thrilled and touched that she could finally communicate with her daughter.
"I want to work really hard in reading and writing. I want to be able to read lyrics and sing karoke - that's my goal."
Touching isn't it?
